Do you make excuses that keep you from stepping out and moving on?
What are you telling yourself that’s killing your dreams?
“I can’t do that.”
“I’m not clever enough.”
“I’m shy.”
“I’m not a leader.” “I’m too old.” “What if I get it wrong?” “I’m a single parent.” “I haven’t got a degree.” “I’m not qualified.” What are you disqualifying yourself from? If you’ve been holding yourself back from pursuing your dreams it’s time to stop looking at the obstacles, ditch your excuses and give yourself permission to follow your heart. This time last year I had a major health scare. I realised that there were many things I’d dreamed of doing but never found the courage to pursue. I decided that when I died I didn’t want to be full of regrets for all the things I’d never done. I took stock of my life, decided to pursue my dream of becoming a writer and make the time for all the things that were important to me. Since then I’ve built my own web site, started two blogs and submitted 41 articles to article directories. Every one of my articles has been picked up and used on other people’s web sites or in their newsletters. People all over the world are benefiting from my wisdom and expertise and I love what I’m doing. It’s been scary at times. I’ve had to face the fear of failure and push myself to go ahead and risk it. I’ve pushed beyond my boundaries, stepped out of my comfort zone and learnt lots of new skills. I’ve stopped being a perfectionist, allowed myself to make mistakes and learnt from them. It’s time to take your dreams off the shelf and breathe new life into them. What have you always wanted to do? Dare to take the first steps towards fulfilling your dream today.
