Be decisive
Make a decision to pursue your goal. Decide what you want and why you want it, and then plan how you will make it happen.
Write your goal down
When you write your goal down it focuses your attention. When you write your goal in detail, it helps you to clarify your goal and gives your subconscious a set of instructions to work with.
Define your destination clearly
Once you know exactly where you're headed, it's easier to get there. When you have a clear destination you'll be able to point yourself in the right direction and it will be easier to see when you're getting off course and need to get back on track.

Be written down - this sets the process in motion. Physically writing the goal down strengthens your commitment to make it happen. When you write your goal in detail, it crystallises the goal and gives you clear instructions to work with.
Have target dates by which you will achieve them - the destination date should be realistic yet challenging. Break you goal down into manageable stages. Put your target dates in your diary and review them regularly.

You need to focus on what you want rather than what you want to leave behind. Setting a negative goal focuses you in the wrong direction. A positive goal focuses your thoughts and attention on what you actually want and makes it much more likely to happen.
Negative language tells you what can't be done. Negative words reinforce limiting patterns of behaviour. Positive alternatives reinforce empowering thought processes and raise your expectations.
